I still haven’t been able to find the documentary locally to watch, but I plan to be purchasing it online. This looks incredible. Not just his transformation, but I love that it portrays a lot of the mental challenges that changing your lifestyle has on you.

I Want To Look Like That Guy is a realist view of what extreme body re-composition does to a normal person. Phase 1, get strong. Phase 2, get shredded. They called his weight lifting MaxOT training, well, in reality that’s a standard heavy lifting style to build strength and muscle. Even Arnold broke that process down in HIS documentary “Pumping Iron” for us.

There is no magic pill. There is no super move. You will not get muscles through gimmicks. There is no “crunch” that is going to give you abs. You will NEVER look exactly like fitness cover models. Understand that these are not REAL, ACHIEVABLE results for everyone. Towards the end of the documentary they show a photo of Stuart only a week after competition, he had put on 10lbs and his abs were no longer visible. Our bodies are not meant to be at the lean extremes of bodybuilders and fitness models. This would be in the range of 4% to 7% body fat. Do you want a temporary look or a lifestyle of functional fitness? If you spend all your time in the single digit body fat percentages (4%-9%) you would walk around as weak and frail. Focus on building strength, good cardio and functional fitness. Don’t spend your time wanting to look like somebody else. Become the best version of you.

Fitness is a lifestyle. Being healthy is a long term goal. There are no shortcuts or easy ways to this end goal.

Hard work, perseverance, dedication and application.

Brock Lesnar is a machine.

He’s not my favorite fighter. I don’t really like his attitude much. What I will say for Brock Lesnar is that he has an insane work ethic. Love him or hate him, he puts in the effort when other fighters wouldn’t. Start at 1:57 for the part with him working out.

I want to fight him.

Mike Tyson Highlights

The music is Propane Nightmares by Pendulum and this is one of my favorite motivational & inspirational videos.

Let me explain a little something about Iron Mike Tyson. This guy won his first 19 professional fights via knockout. He still holds the record as the youngest fighter (20 years old) to ever win the WBA, WBC and IBF world heavyweight titles. Oh, he held them all simultaneously also, which happens to be another one of his records. Now, he isn’t regarded as the best of people outside the ring, but I want to regard just him as to his boxing pedigree. This guy was feared. I’m talking straight up people ducked fighting him because of his style. He never retreated. Mike Tyson would bob and weave while moving forward and throwing some of the most ferocious hooks and uppercuts you’ve ever seen.

One fighter had this to say about Tyson, “Nothing is going to stop Mike Tyson that doesn’t have a motor attached.”

Jim Murray was quoted, “When Mike Tyson gets mad, you don’t need a referee, you need a priest.”

Again, I can’t say much for who he was outside of the ring, but if you watch the way he trained and the way he fought it’s unbelievable. This guy had one speed and it was set to overdrive. That kind of force, that kind of focus, that is what drives me to push myself to be the best version of myself.

Interesting side note: Every time I work out, I workout as if I’m training for a fight. It’s on my bucket list, so I might as well treat every workout as such.
